The Asia Natural Gas & Energy Association – or ANGEA – is an industry association based in Singapore, with a membership that spans the full global gas value chain: from production, to transport, infrastructure, manufacturing, end users, and others.
ANGEA works with governments, societies and industries throughout Asia, to build effective and integrated energy policies that meet each country’s climate objectives while promoting sustainable national and regional economic growth.
ANGEA’s members comprise some of the biggest energy companies in the world, spanning the full global gas value chain: from production, to transport, infrastructure, manufacturing, end users, and others.
Our members are strongly committed to the development of tailored energy solutions in Asia that support both economic growth and progress on decarbonisation targets.
ANGEA’s policy priorities are aimed at supporting Asia – and nations within the region – to achieve energy security and economic growth, while also making progress on emissions targets.
Our work includes highlighting the critical nature of natural gas to Asia’s energy security and the contribution that global LNG production makes to the energy transition in our region. ANGEA and its members are strongly committed to decarbonising the LNG supply chain and we are also working to develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) in Asia.
More than 50% of Asia’s electricity currently comes from coal, the highest reliance of any region around the world.
By switching out coal for gas-fired power generation, particularly in emerging economies, nations in Asia can lower the carbon intensity of their energy systems while maintaining energy security and economic growth, as they increase investments in renewable energy.
ANGEA works with countries throughout Asia, providing support as they plan their future gas use and develop the infrastructure, policies and capacity required for LNG imports.
