The Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association (ANGEA) has appointed highly experienced global LNG executive Ryosuke Tsugaru as the organisation’s new Chair.
Mr. Tsugaru, who is JERA’s Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Low Carbon Fuel Officer, officially commenced his two-year term on September 2. He follows on from outgoing Chair, ConocoPhillips’ Bill Bullock, who has recently retired.
ANGEA CEO Paul Everingham welcomed Mr. Tsugaru to the new role and expressed his appreciation for the tireless efforts of Mr. Bullock.
“We are delighted to have Tsugaru-san take over as ANGEA Chair,” Mr. Everingham said.
“Tsugaru-san brings vast experience and great expertise from more than three decades working in the global energy sector. His strong leadership and insights into energy security and the energy transition will help guide ANGEA’s policy and advocacy work and also our ongoing development as an organisation.
“I’m very grateful for the guidance, support and passion Bill Bullock has provided over the past two years as Chair of ANGEA. This Association has grown and matured significantly over that time and this would not have been possible without Bill’s generous contributions.”
Mr. Tsugaru said he was honoured to take on the role of Chair and excited about the work ANGEA was undertaking with governments, industries and communities around Asia.
He has served on the ANGEA board since April 2024.
“I am honoured to take on this role and build on the excellent work of Bill Bullock. ANGEA has a crucial part to play in Asia’s energy future. I am committed to working with our partners to highlight the vital role of natural gas in ensuring energy security and enabling a realistic, orderly transition to a lower-carbon future. Together, we can support the region’s journey towards sustainable economic growth and a more resilient energy system.”
Margaret Rogacki, Director – Australia LNG at ExxonMobil, will continue as Deputy Board Chair.
Andy O’Brien, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Commercial and Chief Financial Officer, will succeed Mr. Bullock as the ConocoPhillips representative on the ANGEA Board.
